Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Hard-to-find style worn by John Cullen back in 1988-89 while with the Pittsburgh Penguins is just hammered. Cullen posted a 49-point performance in this, his rookie outing, while wearing this jersey. The CCM logo and "Century Sports" are embroidered onto the outer tail and a faded Maska Ultrafil tag is there in the neck. Six team repairs can be found on the left arm with at least 25 more over on the opposite sleeve! The lower front of the home white uniform is littered with stick marks and scrapes on this well-worn example and more marks appear on the sleeves. The numbers, heat-pressed onto the back and arms, are starting to peel at the corners and one has some light material loss. The jersey is from the 1st set of 1988-89 and was worn until January 4, 1989 vs Soviet Red Army. The Penguins switched to the all-sewn on set in the next home game on January 7, 1989 vs Vancouver. Comes with a LOA.
