Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Battered Edmonton Oilers uniform dates back to the mid-1970s when the franchise was part of the World Hockey Association. Tackle twill reverse style crest on the chest with the neck tagging long-removed. The jersey appears to have had three different name bars going by the ghostly outlines on the back, but this one now falls into the name-on-back-removed category. Possible wearers include Jim Troy, who played 47 games for Oilers in 1977-78 wearing #23, Dennis Patterson in 1976-77 and "Hanson Brothers" Steve Carlson, who wore #23 in 1978-79. The shirt shows good wear with washed-out scuffs and stick marks throughout to add to a couple of smaller unrepaired holes. Custom sewing has been done at the waist to shorten the hemline and the interior reveals a loop-style fight strap.
