Blaine Stoughton moved over from the Indianapolis Racers to the New England Whalers of the WHA during the final season in 1978-79 and thus made the jump to the NHL with the Whalers when they were folded into the larger league in 1979-80. Wondrous white mesh Whalers uniform dates back to the 1980-81 season. A hoard of neck tags includes the "Good Sports, Minneapolis Minnesota" label, size 48 fly tag, 80 year tag and washing instructions label. Pucky the Whale sits up on each shoulder with "Stoughton" sewn directly onto the shirt (no name plate) in two-tone tackle-twill above the back numbers. Heavy-duty double garter fight strap in the tail. Game wear includes dozens of black stick marks and slashes on the front with more of the same appearing up and down each arm. A hard-to-find style from the very early 1980s.
