Auto racing legend A.J. Foyt wore this fantastic Simpson fire suit that dates from the late 1970s/early 1980s. Foyt won the Indianapolis 500 three times during the 1960s and became the first four-time winner of the race when he claimed the 1977 title. He is the only driver ever to win the Indy 500, the Daytona 500, the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 24 Hours of LeMans. "A.J." is embroidered in red thread on the left breast of his driver's racing suit, which he has signed in black ink across the red panel on the left side of the front of the zipper-closure suit. Please see our website description for more information about this A.J. Foyt race-worn driver's suit. “Simpson Safety Equip. Inc.” tagging remains sewn into the back of the neck and a small black Simpson patch is sewn on the right breast, between Valvoline and Skoal Bandits sponsors patches. A PPG patch is sewn below the red band on the right front of the suit. A Champion patch is sewn on the left breast and CART and CDA patches are sewn further down the left side. A Simpson patch is sewn on the left sleeve and a large Goodyear banner patch is sewn on the back. This race-worn beauty has a reddish stain on the right breast, possibly dried blood, a black mark above the right knee and obvious wear on the seat of the pants.
