Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011

Jacques Villeneuve brought the famous Canadian auto racing family to the summit when he claimed the Formula One World Drivers' Championship in 1997. The son of the late, great Gilles Villeneuve, who finished second overall to Jody Scheckter in 1979, Jacques Villeneuve won seven Grand Prix races in his sophomore season to claim the title one year after finishing runner-up to teammate Damon Hill as a rookie. Offered here is a sensational and unique piece from that championship season, the nose cone from his Renault-powered Williams FW19. The space-age composites and hollow interior make for a surprisingly light, though still substantial piece. Originally purchased from Collector's Studio of Toronto, this historic Villeneuve F1 nose cone measures 34" long, with a 12" x 13 1/2" opening where it attached to the rest of this sleek Grand Prix sled. This item may be subject to a silent reserve.
