Amazing find is this Jacques Villeneuve 1996 rookie season Formula One racing suit. Originally obtained from Grand Prix Top Gear of England, this Villeneuve Rothmans suit by Sparco was worn by the Canadian racing superstar during his first season on the Grand Prix circuit with Williams Racing. The 1995 Indianapolis 500 and Indy Car champion won four races in his F1 debut, pushing teammate Damon Hill to the final race before settling for second in the drivers' standings. Labatt logos are featured on both forearms of this beauty covered with plenty of sponsors' logos. Please see our website listing for more details. Sparco disclaimed label is sewn inside the top right side of the zipper front closure and a Sparco elasticized band is sewn inside the suit across the back;
Measures out to roughly a size 52 with an overall length of approximately 58 inches;
Rothmans Racing patch on the back has Velcro attachments, as do the Rothmans patches on both sleeves, the split “Roth” and “mans” patches across the chest, the Rothmans patch on the right breast, and the Rothmans patch on the belt and collar Velcro closures;
Sparco, “505”, and “Contollo W” flag tags are sewn in the back of the neck;
A Sparco label sewn below them in the back of the suit has “Clear” handwritten in black ink on the “Name:” line. [red]Addendum; We have received new information that the racing suit is a crew suit from one of his team members and not the one actually worn by Jacques Villeneuve during a Formula 1 race. Amongst other things, the suit worn by Jacques Villeneuve during the races, would have had his name inscribed on the belt.[/red]
