Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Boxing legends Sugar Ray Robinson and Archie Moore are featured in this lot of framed, mostly 1950s photos from the collection of legendary Montreal sports journalist Red Fisher. Smokin’ Joe Frazier’s fists are in the foreground of a 10” x 13 1/2" print from the early 1970s. A dapper Sugar Ray is seated at a piano in a 14x11 photo posed with Fisher. A Forum ticket stub from Moore’s 1958 world light heavyweight bout against Yvon Durelle is mounted in a frame with an 11x14 action shot from the fight. A Yankee Stadium working press ticket stub is mounted in a frame with a 10x8 photo from the September 1957 Robinson-Basilio fight. Two more 10x8 framed boxing photos include one with Fisher looking on from ringside in a print with “Gold Gloves – 1956” written along the bottom. The photos are overall in nice condition with a bit of expected aging. Comes with Red Fisher’s signed LOA.
