Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Curling great Randy Ferbey’s evolution in the sport is plain to see in this lot of two team-signed items, each featuring his signature. The skip of the 2005 Tim Hortons Brier champions, Ferbey and his Alberta crew signed this broom in black marker after claiming their fourth national title in five years. The front edge of the broom was signed by Ferbey as well as by David Nedolin. Marcel Rocque signed on the top part of the wood base and Scott Pfeifer signed vertically on the bottom of the shaft. Ferbey’s autograph also appears on the brim of this late-1980s Strathcona County cap signed by skip Pat Ryan and the crew of Ryan’s Express rink, featuring the talents of the young Ferbey. His crew, which also featured Don Walchuk and Don McKenzie, won the 1988 Brier with a perfect 12-0 mark, a first in the national championship tournament. The four-time Alberta champions won it all again the following year and the Pat Ryan team was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 1994.
