Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011

Fantastic vintage mid-1980s Toronto Blue Jays mesh jersey was worn by fan favorite Garth Iorg. The right-handed bat in the Jays' third base platoon with lefty Rance Mulliniks, Iorg led all Toronto hitters with a .313 average when the Canadian team won its first American League East title in 1985. This royal blue mesh affair has a Wilson size 40 tag in the neck. The team logo featuring blue, light blue and red embroidering is sewn-on the front beneath "Blue Jays" spelled out white twill in the team's futuristic font. The look is the same for the "16" sewn-on the back, though the double-twill numbers are composed of separate strips of white twill sewn onto blue twill, as opposed to the letters in the team name on the front which are strips of white twill sewn directly onto the jersey with the blue mesh showing through the gaps. A gorgeous display piece, the Blue Jays wore these jerseys during spring training and in batting practice throughout the regular season.
