Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
The Montreal Expos first played in 1969 and were the first MLB team located outside of the United States. Named after the Expo 67 World's Fair, the Expos started play at Jarry Park Stadium under manager Gene Mauch. The team's initial majority owner was Charles Bronfman, a major shareholder in Seagram. Inaugural team Manager Gene Mauch wore this pro Montreal Expos baseball cap circa 1970 and a perfect ballpoint ink signature graces the underside of the bill. The tan Rawlings XPG3 glove is covered in ballpoint signatures from the 1969 version of the Expos with key signers including Mauch, Staub, Jones, Bailey, Brand, Laboy and Stoneman. The glove is in excellent-plus condition while the autographs are very legible and have been signed in bold and uniform ink.
