Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Like Mickey Mantle, this example of the famous #311 card of the Topps company's coveted 1952 issue is the real deal. Examined and slabbed "Authentic" by PSA, the card has obvious condition issues, with a few heavy creases and rather considerable soiling being the most notable. This is the version where the "e" (in Mantle) in Mickey's facsimile autograph does not curl up towards the printed name. Card back informs the uninformed that Mickey broke into pro ball as a shortstop at age 17. Oh, what a career he had, amazingly smashing the ball great distances from either side of the plate. Desirable in any condition is a ?52 Topps Mantle, with this one perfect for those who like to spread their hobby dollars around.
