Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011

A Saskatchewan Roughrider/CFL historian will be in heaven as he/she sifts through these two utterly fascinating scrapbooks, originally from the family of a Saskatchewan player. Chronicling a season that saw the Roughriders make it all the way to the Grey Cup, the first three pages of one book have cut-out head shots of the players, accompanied by their autographs(!), with an 8" by 10" photo of Chuck Radley pasted on the inside front cover. Also included are souvenirs from the Grey Cup in Toronto, a superb regular season program and a 1951 schedule with the team's results neatly penned-in. Please visit our website for more details about these wild Canadian football treasures. We count a total of 38 autographs, including those of head coach Harry "Blackjack" Smith, quarterback Glenn Dobbs, Jack Nix, Radley and a few non-players (executives, equipment men, etc.). The newspaper clippings are loaded with great pictures, while the Winnipeg at Saskatchewan G-VG program is a thick 143-page yearbook-style volume that pictures and profiles most players - also extremely interesting reading. Menus from the train trip to Toronto for the Grey Cup, typed Saskatchewan Grey Cup News one-page papers distributed on the trip, a map of the Grey Cup parade, Roughrider pins with long green and white ribbons, a postcard and stationary from where the Riders stayed in Toronto (Sunnyside Motor Hotel) and Chuck Radley's name tag for the post Grey Cup luncheon are among the highlights at the back of the second scrapbook. It's too bad that Saskatchewan was decimated by injuries upon arriving in Toronto - they came up with a valiant second-half comeback attempt but fell short, losing the title game 21-14 to the Ottawa Rough Riders. Relive all the excitement of the season with this unique jackpot!
