Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
A leader of the Czechoslovakian national ice hockey team for which he toiled 11 years, Vaclav Nedomansky skated in the 1968 and 1972 Winter Olympic Games, helping his country to silver and bronze medals in Grenoble and Sapporo respectively. These are his participant's medals, with an image of Grenoble and "Les Jeux Olympiques D'Hiver" on one side of the '68 keepsake, and a section of tarnish, along with the maker's "J.H. Coeffin" name on the other. Visible on the edge is "1967 BRON". Measuring 2-5/8", it is joined by a slightly smaller (2-3/8") memento from the '72 Sapporo games. It appears to be in perfect condition, with Japanese lettering on the edge, and housed in its original acrylic holder which exhibits light scratches. Fabulous Olympic memorabilia was recently obtained directly from International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame member Vaclav Nedomansky and will come with his signed letter of authenticity.
