Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011

Absolutely fascinating pair of top-of-the-line 1940s pro quality goalie gloves evokes memories of ambidextrous Montreal Canadiens legend Bill Durnan. These stunning D&R All-Pro leather gloves are mirror images of each other, with thick heavy padding on the back for use as blockers, five-fingered padded palms with a band of leather webbing between the heavily-padded thumb so that each glove could be used to either hold the stick or trap the puck. Please see our website descripton for more details on this incredible find! Nicely preserved overall despite plenty of game use with soft and supple leather and Daignault & Rolland tagging inside the left golve. The D&R logo and printing remains on the back of both gloves, with a light 2-inch gash through the logo on the right glove. The inside cuff has worn through on the left glove giving a good view of three of the wood protection slats.
