Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Fabulous Flyers slug from the NHL's shortlived 1970s goal puck program represents one of bearded Bill Flett's 43 tallies. Offered here is the puck Cowboy Bill used to score his 42nd goal of the 1972-73 season on St. Louis' Wayne Stephenson in a 5-2 win over the Blues on March 25 at the Spectrum. Please see our website description for more information about this lot. This 1972-73 official NHL game puck has the league’s “Goal Puck” label sticker applied to one side with the scorer, team and date typed along with “PF-1-275” indicating that the puck is the Flyers’ 275th goal from the first season of the program.
The NHL Goal Puck label exhibits some wear, particularly on the right side where Flett’s surname remains only faintly legible. Overall, the puck has been nicely preserved with a Featuring a magnificent rubberized Flyers logo crest.
