Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011

Another fantastic opportunity here to obtain one from the great grails of the hobby ? a Sweet Caporal postcard! The elusive 100-year old postcards were printed in Britain and distributed by the Imperial Tobacco Company of Canada, apparently in 50-count tins of Sweet Caporal cigarettes. Offered here is card #1 of the set featuring Paddy Moran of the Quebec Bulldogs. Ironically, considering the issuer, Moran was noted for protecting the area in front of his net by aggressively using his stick, and taunting the opposing players while chewing tobacco. He won two Stanley Cups with Quebec in 1912 and 1913. Moran was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1958. Encapsulated by the examiners at PSA Sports who have closely scrutinized the wear and condition before awarding a grading of GOOD 2 to this early example.
