Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Great wool worn by the Great One during his glory years in Edmonton! This heavy wool pullover cardigan sweater, made by Basco in size M, according to neck tags, kept Wayne Gretzky comfy and warm when the temperatures dipped in Alberta. In perfect and wearable condition, the piece comes complete with a copy of a photograph from Wayne's photo biography showing him "riding my bike home from practice during the playoffs". Wayne is pictured wearing nifty sunglasses, a NY Yankees ball cap and this exact sweater! The photo has notations that claim the sweater came from Peter Hamm, a neighbor of Wayne's from Brantford who went on to own a number of Junior teams back in the day.
