Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Juha “Flying Finn” Widing was the first Finnish born player in the NHL and did a 10-year tour of duty split between the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, and Cleveland Barons before ending his career with the 1977-78 Edmonton Oilers in the WHA. After retirement he lived on a farm in British and passed away in Kelowna, BC in 1984 at only 37 years old. This Sher-Wood P.M.P. 5052 is stamped “WIDING J.” and is in wonderful condition. Original tape on the shaft starts just below the top instead of the more usual knob right at the end. Tape is worn in mid blade, showing a layer of clear tape. Signed by teammates including Dave Semenko, Dave Dryden and Rob Chipperfield, this stick is a great way to hold history in your hand. The stick is signed by: Ron Chipperfield, Bill Flett, Mike Zuke, Brett Callighen, Norm Ferguson, Pierre Guite, Randy Rota, Dave Langevin, Ab DeMarco, Dave Semenko, Dennis Sobchuk, Jim Troy, Dave Dryden and two unidentified signatures.
