Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Actually, four silver versions and one tan matchbook cover are offered here in this all-Hall-of-Famer lot, issued in the 1930s by New York City’s Diamond Match Company. Comparatively a bargain alongside hockey cards from the same era, these neat pieces feature swell write-ups, with Eddie Shore leading a star-studded Boston foursome. Legends Nels Stewart and Dit Clapper join Shore, with Harry Oliver completing the Bruins’ line-up, and a tan (Type 1) cover of New York Ranger Ching Johnson rounding out the lot. All covers are without any unsightly creases through the images of the players, with non-detracting stamped four-digit numbers on the back, along with two-digit numbers added in pen. Affordable pre-war fun!
