Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
One of the world's most aesthetically pleasing hockey card sets is the Topps company's inaugural hockey issue of 1954-55, with this ensemble indeed looking mighty swell despite some corner and edge wear throughout. Mostly VG+ and VG-EX cards, with some making it to EX. The key Howe card is without creases but with white specs in Gordie's hair and a small stain on the back rendering it VG or, at best, VG+. The otherwise VG-EX Sawchuk meanwhile has a quarter-size clear glue stain on the back lowering its grade. We see the first (Gamble) and last (Schmidt) cards as VG-EX, with Lindsay EX or very close to it and Worsley and Delvecchio at VG. Of the remainder, only a half dozen have a small/minor crease. Rather uniform condition with those colors of the uniforms splendid.
