Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
Neat big batch of 5" by 7" OPC cards is just three shy of a 100-card set and was enjoyed by its original owner who used the backs of some (24) to sketch and color hockey players, mostly Montreal Canadiens. We count over 50, however, in nice collectible VG-ish condition with no serious creases, rather small peripheral creases at times, and corner/edge wear. Included are Hall-of-Famers Broda (#2), 10-Horner, 17-H. Smith, 20-Jackson, 34-Coulter, 35-C. Smith RC, 36-Patrick, 39-Colville, 66-Goodfellow, 72-Howe, 75-Thompson, 76-Seibert, 85-Pratt RC, 97-Brimsek RC, 99-Bauer RC and 100-Shore. Please see our website for more details. Others are #s 1, 13, 16, 18, 21, 25, 27-29, 31, 38, 41, 43-47, 55, 56, 60, 62-64, 71, 73, 74, 78-83, 90, 93, 96 and 99. Notables with sketches/drawing on the backs (which are otherwise in similar condition) are 4-Drillon, 57-Barry, 86-Hextall, 92-Weiland and 95-Clapper. There are then (21) with condition issues that include either evidence of being glued, still glued to a cardboard backing or a letter in pencil on the lower front. This lesser flaw is present on 14-Schriner, 50-Gottselig, 68-Abel RC (also soiled and creased), 91-R. Conacher, 94-Dumart and 98-Cowley, with 59-C. Conacher featuring paper loss and glue residue on the back. Most notable of (10) duplicates are 35-S. Smith and 95-Clapper in VG, while missing are #s 6-Apps, 7-Langelle and 37-Kerr. Lots of possibilities with this interesting early O-Pee-Chee issue.
