The mid-1990s saw the Parkhurst name given to popular sets that "never were" and our consignor saw a chance at some splendid autograph opportunities. Leading the way are two 6-card autographed insert sets; from The Missing Link ('56-57) set and featuring Maurice Richard, Howe and Geoffrion (with a duplicate Howe and total book value of $890), and the Tall Boys issue with Howe, Hull, Espo and Keon (total BV $540). He also acquired via mail or in person an astonishing total of over 280 of the regular issue cards! Included are multiples of Gordie, The Rocket, Gump, Beliveau and other Hall-of-Famers and memorable Original Six era stars. What a labor of love, with further details on our website. The Missing Link set includes over 130 autographed cards out of 180, with the breakdown as follows. There are 14 Bruins (Flaman, Boivin, Schmidt), 13 Black Hawks (Ivan, Harry Watson, Vasko), 15 Red Wings (Howe, Lindsay, Kelly, Delvecchio, Ullman, Hall), 16 Canadiens (Richard brothers, Boom Boom, Beliveau, Johnson, Curry), 16 Rangers (Worsley, Bower, Howell, Fontinato) and 21 Maple Leafs (Kennedy, Armstrong, Chadwick, Harris, Meeker), as well as (38) “specials” (All-Star, trophy winners, action), including Howe (2 – one personalized), Rocket (2), Beliveau (7), Hall (3), Tom Johnson (4), Kennedy and Bouchard. A similar story with The Tall Boys set of 180 as some 115 are signed, including between 14 and 18 from each team and 18 “specials”. Notables include Esposito, Vasko, Reay, Howe, Crozier, Ferguson, Worsley, Ratelle, Henry, Brewer, Harris, Keon, Mahovlich (2), Beliveau (4) and Pilote (2). Completing are approximately half a dozen from each team (39 total) from the imaginary ’66-67 set. A tremendous instant collection or lots of break up value with this formidable lot.
