Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011

This stunning and dazzling New Jersey Devils championship ring is a spectacular gold, diamonds and rubies creation to commemorate the team's third Stanley Cup win in the spring of 2003. This Devils staff member's type A ring by Intergold comes with its original presentation box and remains in magnificent condition. Brodeur, Stevens and Niedermayer formed the core of the Devils squad that ran through Boston and Tampa Bay in 10 games to reach the Eastern Conference final. Ottawa proved a tougher test, pushing New Jersey to the limit, and the Devils needed all seven games once again in the final before besting Anaheim to claim the Cup. A total of 61 diamonds are set on the face and bezel, with rubies and black stones composing a Devils logo on the tableau. Another 26 smaller diamonds are set in a Stanley Cup on the right shank. The size 9 1/2 ring has "Intergold 14K" stamped inside the band along with special markings (contact us for details). Please refer to our website description for more information and note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve. The tableau consists of a Devils logo composed of rubies and black stones set amid a variety of diamonds. “Stanley Cup” and “Champions” are spelled out in raised gold on the upper and lower bezels, with nine diamonds each on either side bezel. The left shank has the staff member’s name along with the 2003 Stanley Cup logo. After establishing the NHL record for playoff road wins with 10 in 1995, and matching it in 2000, the Devils set the record for home playoff wins with 12 in 2003, and those marks are reflected there as well with the notations “1995, 10-1”, “2000, 10-2”, and “2003, 12-1”. The right shank has three Cups below the team name with “20” and “03” beside the bowl of the middle one, which has small diamonds set in it, and “95” and “00” etched on the Cups on either side.
The ring's presentation box has a scratch to note and minor flaws in the team name etched on the glass panel in the cover and is otherwise in beautiful condition. [red]Addendum; In discussing with the New Jersey Devils organisation, we have not yet been able to identify whom exactly this ring would have originally been awarded to or produced for and we can’t find anyone by the name of “Romanelli” who would have been employed by the Devils during the 2002-03 season.[/red]
