Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
As the story goes, Stan Mikita invented the curved stick during a practice in Chicago when his stick became wedged between a door and the boards and the blade bent at an angle. He fired off a few shots with the warped blade and the rest is history. This mid-1960s CCM Custom Pattern Made Pro features Mikita's wicked banana curve. Stamping along the shaft includes "Mikita" and "Gunzo's, Berwyn ILL". The blade is done in vintage black "bulldog" tape with Mikita's typical "corndog" knob in aged white wrapping. We would grade this one in outstanding condition if it weren't for a tiny chip at the tip of the blade.
