Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/1/2011
HOFers Terry Sawchuk and Sid Abel and the one and only Gordie Howe are among 14 members of the 1960-61 Detroit Red Wings who signed this game-used stick wielded by Mr. Hockey himself. Howe had already won the Hart and Art Ross trophies five times, not to mention all of his four Stanley Cups, when he wielded this Northland Pro gamer, which retains his original tape jobs and "Howe" stamped on the shaft. Howe and Alex Delvecchio signed to the left of the Northland label on the shaft and Abel and Sawchuk signed to the right. Norm Ullman signed near the top of the shaft, making a total of five HOF autographs. MacDonald, Young, Godfrey, Melnyk, Fonteyne, Bassen, Johnson, Glover and MacGregor also signed. These vintage ballpoint autographs have been wonderfully preserved under a light coat of varnish. This magnificent Gordie Howe team-signed stick, all set for display in a Red Wings/HOF shrine, comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
