Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011

This mesmerizing 1926-27 New York Rangers panoramic team photo shows the members of the inaugural season Blueshirts lined up shoulder-to-shoulder on the ice in full uniform, including legendary head coach Lester Patrick! The Silver Fox appeared in one regular season game as a defenseman in a Rangers lineup built by Conn Smythe that boasted fellow HOFers Frank Boucher, Ching Johnson, and brothers Bill and Bun Cook. This magnificent 7 1/4" x 29" original print was originally obtained from the family of the late Leo Bourgault, who was acquired from Toronto early in the season and appears second from the left in the photo beside trainer Harry Westerby. The image remains in wonderful condition overall for display, with a gouge on Bourgault's right breast and nickel-sized discoloration in the adjacent area, including part of Bourgault's face, among the only significant flaws along with a mark on Westerby's right wrist and fading in the bottom right corner. Mounted on a stiff cardboard backing, this historic Rangers inaugural season team photo comes with an LOA.
