Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011

Mike Gartner is, without a doubt, the most underrated player in the history of the NHL. Gartner quietly posted outstanding statistics throughout his 19-year NHL career with 708 goals and 1,335 points in total. He currently sits sixth on the all-time scoring list, ahead of Mark Messier. This is the shirt Gartner wore with the Rangers during the 1991-92 campaign. It is a heavy mesh jersey by CCM & Gerry Cosby with the correct Cosby tag and CCM label in the neck (size 52). The shirt features custom shortened sleeves and a hemmed-up body, a tell-tale sign of a true Gartner gamer. Great game wear here with at least 18 team repairs and loads of stick marks, board burns and scuffs throughout. The captain's C rests up on the chest above clue residue that shows where the alternate's A once appeared. The NHL's 75th patch is sewn just to the side of the letter. Conclusively photo-matched to an action shot of Gartner wearing this identical shirt, showing a stick mark that runs into the left arm number and a black mark below the "E" in Rangers. Includes a detailed team letter of authenticity outlining the provenance and the Rangers' confirmation that the jersey was donated to a local charity by the team.
