Symbolic of hockey's highest achievement, this gorgeous miniature grail stands just over one foot tall. The 1985-86 Montreal Canadiens claimed the storied franchise's 23rd Stanley Cup and the names of all of the players, coaches, staff and management who contributed to the championship squad's success are all displayed on this magnificent award, etched in silver plate on the trophy's barrel. Rookie goalie Patrick Roy claimed his first of an NHL record three Conn Smythes as the 1986 playoff MVP. Canadiens captain Bob Gainey, Larry Robinson and Mario Tremblay bridge the previous Habs dynasties - represented in management by Beliveau, Savard, Lemaire and Laperriere - with the team's promising future featuring young stars Chelios, Richer and Lemieux. Their names are all included here along with Naslund, Smith, Green, Walter, Ludwig, Carbonneau, Nilan, McPhee, Skrudland, Svoboda and all the other Habs who contributed to the Canadiens' spectacular playoff run through Boston, Hartford, New York and Calgary in the spring of 1986. This example is identical to those awarded to each member of the winning team by the National Hockey League in a tradition dating back to 1958. Vintage green felt covers the bottom of the black wood base. According to our consignor, this one was originally presented to Habs regular Serge Boisvert. In excellent condition with minor patina in a few places.
