Historic and amazing Mario Lemieux game-worn jersey was worn by the Pittsburgh Penguins’ superstar when he scored one of his last playoff goals prior to his first retirement in the spring of 1997. Super Mario wore this #66 Penguins captain’s jersey at Philadelphia’s Spectrum on April 19th for Game 2 against Eric Lindros’ Flyers, who would go on to take the first-round series in five games. Le Magnifique fired a shot past Garth Snow 10:59 into the first in the Penguins’ 3-2 loss for the first of what would prove to be his final three playoff goals, at least until his remarkable comeback in 2000-01. This incredible black mesh Lemieux playoff gamer has Center Ice, Starter and size 58-R tagging in the neck. A small red square was affixed to the size label, which also has “66 C” written on it in black marker. The Starter label has “4” written in black marker. The customized hem around the tail has been folded over and sewn in place to shorten it and a “66 Lemieux ’96-97” patch is sewn inside the rear tail. “4/19/97 vs Flyers 1st Round Goal #1” is written on the inside of the white band around the bottom of the jersey and the black marker has bled through to the outside of the mesh fabric on the lower back. This superb Lemieux 1997 playoff gamer displays no discernible marks from wear and remains in near-pristine condition. Comes with a PenguinsChronicles.com LOA from Casey Samuelson.
