Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2011
Offered here is a complete program from a March 19, 1947 tilt in Toronto between the Leafs and the Canadiens, won by the host team 5-4. Signing the front cover alongside his image was Toronto's great captain Syl Apps, along with fellow HOF'er Harry Watson and defenseman Jim Thomson. The back cover was autographed by HOF'ers Maurice Richard and Turk Broda, plus Wally Stanowski, Glen Harmon and a 19-year-old Leafs rookie named Bill Barilko, who played only 18 regular season games that season before the playoffs. Both teams would go on to meet in the Stanley Cup Finals, with Toronto capturing their then record 3rd Cup in a row. A rare treasure, featuring not only the signatures of each team's legendary captain but what must be among the earliest Barilko autographs obtained; the program is in solid EX condition, while the lead pencil signatures are uniformly strong.
