Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011

This is the holy grail of table top hockey games, a vintage 1938 Aristopel "Puck" game from Sweden complete with its original box! Never offered before, this is the model that revolutionized the table-top game by introducing player mobility via slots in the "ice surface" manipulated by rods. This fascinating and historic table-top hockey game comes with two full "Sweden" and "Canada" squads of five skaters and one goalie and a black wood puck. Each skater retains its bright original paint job, traditional yellow and blue hoops for Sweden and red with a blue stripe for Canada. The skaters and goalies all have sticks consisting of metal rods which exhibit rust but remain intact and attached. Amazingly simple yet effective design features a playing surface that measures 27 1/8" long and 19 1/4" across. The rink stands 3 inches tall overall and is made primarily of painted wood assembled with tiny nails, with metal goals and puck deflectors on the end boards, as well as the rod assembly. The game's thin cardboard box is fragile and essentially complete and intact. Documentation on the game's history and a printed picture of the first game will accompany this rare treasure.
