Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
Classic studio shot of the famous Ottawa Silver Seven hockey team is a scarcer black-and-white version with an unused divided postcard back, contrary to the majority of Silver Seven postcards we've handled over the years. The trio of Hall-of-Famers standing is Harry Westwick, Billy Gilmour and the great Frank McGee, while team captain Harvey Pulford and fellow HOFer Alf Smith are seated in the middle. Featuring Lord Stanley's coveted trophy and with "Ottawa Hockey Club, World's Champions 1905 - Holders of Stanley Cup" beneath the photo. This vintage card is in hard-to-imagine-better condition considering its vintage, with a surface scuff at the level of Gilmour's head the only flaw to note. This historic postcard dates from the height of Ottawa's Stanley Cup "reign" from March 1903 to March 1906.
