Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
There have been two editions of the World Cup of Hockey to date and we have both of them covered with this lot of 72 official game pucks. It was “USA! USA! USA!” all over again in the inaugural edition of the tournament which comes to life in the 31 pucks from the 1996 World Cup of Hockey that come in plastic packaging. Featuring the tournament’s full-color logo screened on the face, these international game pucks have a screened reverse featuring a stretched globe with “19” and “96” on either end. “Official Game Puck” is written in small type above the globe and “World Cup of Hockey” below it, with “In Glas Co Made in Canada” at the bottom. The 41 loose pucks from the World Cup of Hockey 2004 conjure up chants of “Go, Canada, Go!”. “World Cup of Hockey” appears at the top of the shaded ring on the face with “2004” at the bottom and a full-color World Cup of Hockey 2004 logo in center with “InGlasCo” in small white letters at the bottom. “Official Game Puck” appears at the top of the shaded ring on the reverse with the names of all eight countries in the tournament listed in the middle. Both pucks have “In Glas Co” between a pair of NHL shield on the edge along with “Official” and “Made in Canada”, all in raised letters.
