This fantastic collection of 83 NHL official game pucks dates from the outset of Gary Bettman’s career as the league’s first
commissioner. This lot includes each of the three versions of Bettman’s facsimile signature which appeared on the screened orange
reverse from 1992-95. Included among 27 pucks that come with their original packaging are one each from: Anaheim, Boston, Buffalo,
Calgary, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Edmonton, Florida, Hartford, Los Angeles, Montreal, New Jersey, N.Y. Rangers, N.Y. Islanders,
Ottawa, Philadelphia, Quebec, St. Louis, San Jose, Tampa Bay, Toronto, Vancouver, Washington and Winnipeg. Those 25 pucks and one of
two Pittsburgh pucks in their original packaging are from 1994-95, with the IG4 In Glas Co slug that features a pair of NHL shields and
“Made in Canada” on the edge of the puck. The other Penguins puck in its original packaging is an earlier version which has “Canada” on
the edge and no league crests. Bettman’s signature appears in three variations among the 56 loose pucks offered in this lot. The first
version of his signature is on 22 pucks from 1992-93 which break down as follows: Buffalo (3), Chicago (2), Edmonton, Florida, Los
Angeles (3), New Jersey (3), Ottawa (3), St. Louis, and Tampa Bay (5). Four pucks, a pair each from the Flyers and Sharks, are from
1993-94 with a lighter version of Bettman’s signature and “Canada” on the edge of the puck with no NHL shields. Bettman’s signature is
updated once again on 24 pucks from 1992-95 with “Canada” on the edge: Anaheim, Boston, Calgary (3), Dallas (6), Detroit, Hartford,
Montreal, N.Y. Islanders, N.Y. Rangers, Pittsburgh (2), St. Louis, Toronto (2), Vancouver, Washington and Winnipeg. loose pucks while
another 6 pucks (4 Blues and 2 Stars) are from 1992-95 with the updated signature and a pair of NHL shields and “Made in Canada” on the
edge.
