The 2009 Stanley Cup playoffs culminated in a rematch of the previous year’s final. Sidney Crosby’s Pittsburgh Penguins exacted their
revenge, beating out Detroit in seven games to claim the franchise’s third Cup. The Penguins logo rests at the bottom of a Stanley Cup
Champions 2009 label featured on three commemorative cardboard tubes, each containing seven NHL official game pucks from the final, one
puck labeled for each game. These 21 pucks have the “Stanley Cup Final 2009” logo on the face in the middle of a narrow ring with
“National Hockey League” written across the top and “Official Game Puck” and “Game” and the game number (e.g. “7”) written along the
bottom. The reverse of these 21 finals game pucks all have commissioner Gary Bettman’s facsimile signature beneath the NHL shield in
the middle of a narrow ring. A total of 10 conference finals pucks include 5 from the Eastern final, which saw the Penguins sweep
Carolina in four straight, and 5 from the Western final, a five-game win for the Red Wings over Chicago. These conference finals pucks
have the respective conference logo in the middle of a narrow ring on the face with “Finals 2009” at the bottom. There are 32 2009 NHL
playoff pucks with two pucks for each of the 16 playoff teams: Anaheim, Boston, Calgary, Carolina, Chicago, Columbus, Detroit,
Montreal, New Jersey, N.Y. Rangers, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, San Jose, Vancouver and Washington. These pucks, which were
used through the first two rounds of the 2009 playoffs, feature the home team’s logo in the middle of the narrow ring with “Official
Game Puck” at the bottom. The reverse of the 52 conference and playoff pucks have the commissioner’s facsimile signature below the 2009
Stanley Cup Playoffs logo. Each of these pucks comes in its original “Sher-Wood” round cardboard box with clear plastic lids on top and
bottom and a 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs label.
