Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
This lot of 44 NHL official game pucks from the 2006 Stanley Cup final conjures up memories of the Carolina Hurricanes’ first championship and the Edmonton Oilers’ remarkable run to the final. These 2006 playoff pucks are for individual games of the seven-game Stanley Cup final. Included here are three pucks from each of the first six games of the final and 26 from Game 7, which the Hurricanes won 3-1 as Carolina celebrated the franchise’s first NHL championship on home ice. The screened face of these pucks feature the 2006 Stanley Cup Final logo on a blue background in the middle of a narrow silver-white-and-black ring. “National Hockey League” is written above the logo with “Official Game Puck” and the game number (e.g. “Game SEVEN”) at the bottom. The reverse features the NHL shield and commissioner Gary Bettman’s facsimile signature in the middle of another narrow band. “In Glas Co” is printed between a pair of NHL shield logos on the edge of each puck along with “Made In Canada” and “Official”, also in raised letters. All 44 pucks come in their individual In Glas Co “NHL Official Game Puck” round cardboard boxes with plastic lids, a clear one on top and white on the bottom.
