Big lot of 90 2001 & 2002 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs official game pucks in their individual In Glas Co round cardboard boxes features 41 pucks for the five Cup finals games. There are 30 pucks for the 2001 NHL playoffs which saw the Colorado Avalanche defeat New Jersey in a seven-game final to claim their second Stanley Cup. Another 19 pucks are from the 2002 playoffs. Both of these pucks feature their respective playoff year’s official NHL Stanley Cup logo screened in the middle of the face surrounded by a white ring with the year in black along the top and “Stanley Cup” at the bottom. The 41 pucks for individual games of the 2002 final, which saw Detroit top Carolina for its third Stanley Cup win in six years, differ from the playoff puck in that “Stanley Cup Finals” appears in black along the top of the white ring and the game number (e.g. “Game 1”) appears on the bottom. There are 8 pucks for each of Games 1-4, and 9 for Game 5, which saw Brendan Shanahan score his second goal of the game into an empty net to seal a Cup-clinching 3-1 Red Wings win over the Hurricanes at the Joe Louis Arena. The reverse of all 90 pucks features commissioner Gary Bettman’s facsimile signature below the NHL shield in the middle of a silver ring with “Official Game Puck” along the top and “In Glas Co” at the bottom. The edge of each puck has “In Glas Co” between NHL shields along with “Made in Canada” and “Official”, all in raised letters.
