Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
Talk about old time hockey! This lot consists of a pair of vintage one-piece wooden hockey sticks from the early 20th century. Featured is a thick-shafted relic from the first decade of the 1900s that wouldn't have looked out of place in Rat Portage or in the hands of the Ottawa Silver Seven's One-Eyed Frank McGee. The cracked blade of this vintage 57-inch-long twig is held together by vintage repairs with tape and long-corroded metal wire. The initials "D.T." are etched on one side of the shaft which has small traces of its paper label on the front. The smaller one-piece stick dates from the 1910s/'20s. This crack-free wood stick measures 50" from toe to top, with a bowed lower shaft that would favor a lefthanded shot.
