Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
Fascinating images from around the world, when the sport of ice hockey was still in relative infancy, date back to 1892 and a superb color chromolithograph measuring 6-1/2" by 9-1/4". Other pieces are a big 11" by 16" and include an 1897 Harper's Weekly page picturing a hockey game in progress at New York City's St. Nicholas Rink, a London News depiction with the caption reading "Hockey on the ice in America: A shot for goal" and a 1902 page from France's La Vie Au Grand Air magazine that mentions how hockey is played a lot in Switzerland, Norway and Canada and how a newly formed French team was to have play a team from England! All items are a nice EX or better.
