The 2008 Women's World Ice Hockey Championships were held from April 4 to April 13, 2008, in Harbin, People's Republic of China. For the eleventh straight tournament, Canada met the United States in the gold-medal match and, for only the second time out of 11, the American team defeated the Canadians for the gold medal. Offered is this impressive Silver Medal, awarded to a member of Team Canada for their second place performance. The three-inch medal features a vintage image of a goaltender on the face, a throwback to the medals issued in the 1930s and 40s. The reverse is a design of the IIHF's Centennial logo and the top section is engraved "2008" and "Women". Comes complete with the IIHF's 100th Anniversary ribbon. A rare medal, as pieces from the recent past are seldom offered up. In excellent condition with a few scratches to the outer edge.
