Joe Nieuwendyk already had one Olympics under his belt when he wore this photo-matched red Heritage jersey for Team Canada's opening game at Salt Lake City in 2002. Nieuwendyk, who contributed five points four years earlier in Nagano, stepped onto the ice wearing this beauty as Canada stumbled in a 5-2 loss to Sweden in its first step towards a first Olympic gold in 52 years. Three photo matches include: 1) a loose thread on the right edge of the "N" in the "Canada" banner beneath the vintage maple leaf crest on the front; 2) a loose thread on the right edge of the "D"; and 3) a small black mark, just below the last "A", on the red airknit fabric. Joe's #25 in white-and-black twill is sewn on the back and both sleeves. IIHF and size 56 Nike Team Sports tags are sewn inside the tie-neck collar, which has its original lace. An IIHF patch is sewn onto the right rear tail and the jersey's fight strap is intact. Nike inventory tag is screened inside the left rear tail. This single-use gamer displays a couple of black slash marks on the back of the right cuff and another black mark on the left sleeve. Comes with a signed letter of authenticity from Hockey Canada.
