Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
Despite missing the playoffs again with yet another last place finish in 1991-92, the Quebec Nordiques showed signs of a bright future with Joe Sakic, Mats Sundin and Owen Nolan leading a talented young offense. Rookie center Claude Lapointe brought depth and grit and was quickly embraced as a fan favorite for his dogged checking. Lapointe recorded 33 points and 86 penalty minutes in 1991-92, his first full NHL season, and was presented with this O'Keefe Cup trophy as the Nordiques' top defensive player for the third season segment. This shiny silver-colored award sponsored by the O'Keefe brewery stands roughly 12" tall, including its black wood base. It appears that a layer of felt is missing from the bottom of the base, where a bolt extends beyond the edge in the middle. Also included is Lapointe's reversible Nordiques jacket. This lot comes with Claude Lapointe's signed LOA.
