Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
Classic Whalers green road jersey shows heavy wear and was donned by Dave Babych in 1989-90. With "Babych" sewn directly onto the shirt (no nameplate), a "44" in black marker added to the Maska Air-Knit tag in the collar and a CCM patch embroidered into the rear hem, the jersey is plastered with black stick marks and general filth across the lower front. Red and blue paint transfers and a small hole (right sleeve), partially detached collar piping and significant red paint on the lower back are notable. A digital photo (to be included) matches marks in one of the "4"s of the left sleeve, while marks on a right sleeve "4" show up on Babych's '89-90 OPC hockey card, also to be included. One of the "4"s on the back is nicely autographed in blue Sharpie.
