A prolific goal scorer, Mike Bossy led his team in numbers with 68 goals and 119 points over the 1980-81 regular season. Offered is a brilliant blue mesh uniform worn by 500-goal club member and Hockey Hall-of-Famer during the early-1980s glory years with the Isles. This example is from the first set worn by the Islanders during the 1980-81 Stanley Cup Championship season. Tackle twill crest on the chest with "22" on the sleeves and arms in two-tone tackle twill with "Bossy" crossing the name plate above. Although the name plate is made from a slightly darker material, the wear and stitching on the letters matches the rest of the jersey and there is no evidence a former plate. Game wear includes a number of stick slashes including a large one running down the crest and four crudely-stitched team repairs. Washed-out Sandow tag in the neck with the maker's identifier screened again on the tail. The fight strap in the back has been cut out and Bossy has added his signature in black marker on the upper chest. Comes with a pair of letters of authenticity, one from Drop the Pucks and the other from Mil Byron of Byron's Hockeyland.
