Fantastic tri-color chenille WHA crest sits on the left breast of Wayne Mundey's game-worn referee sweater from the 1970s rebel league. Mundey was a member of the WHA's original crew of on-ice officials and he wore this #9 referee's jersey during one of his five seasons from 1972-77. The eye-catching red-white-and-blue design of the WHA's referees' sweaters was a drastic departure from the black-and-white zebra look of NHL officials. Zip-up neckline beauty has Gerry Cosby and size 42 tagging in the neck while the outline of another tag that is no longer there is also visible in the collar. There are no visible alterations to the red-white-and-blue tripe twill number and nameplate on the back or the WHA crest on the front. Game wear shows in dried bloodstains on the bottom front and general soiling does little to detract from this wool sweater's vibrant colors. Individual WHA and Southern League chenille crests are included along with two of his WHA rule books and four of his WHA schedule and statistics annuals, all with Wayne's original notations. Four of Mundey's original WHA officials passes, one signed by Gary Davidson and another signed by Dennis Murphy, are among the other items, including a ticket stub and ID badge from the 1977 WHA All-Star Game in Hartford, and three of Mundey's WHA business cards. Comes with Wayne Mundey's LOA.
