Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011

After breaking into big league hockey with the Oilers during the WHA's last season, Dave Hunter wore this Sandow knit Oilers home jersey during his and Edmonton's sophomore year in the NHL. This durene style was worn for the first half of the 1980-81 season and sports the Alberta 75th patch up on the shoulder. The dual Sandow tags are there in the collar and "SandowSK" is screened onto the rear hem. The Oilers crest and the numbers are sewn-on and "Hunter" is sewn in two-tone lettering onto the cloth nameplate which is then affixed above the number 12. Overall, the game wear is moderate with a number of unrepaired holes on the sleeves to add to board burns, material pulls and a handful of solid black stick marks. All-in-all a great jersey from this winger who would soon help the Oilers to three Stanley Cup championships.
