Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011

Team Canada's 2004 World Cup of Hockey title is commemorated by this magnificent championship ring. Diamonds and 10K white gold creation by Intergold was presented to left wing Simon Gagne, who contributed 10 points in nine games, including three goals and seven assists, as Canada beat out Finland. A retro "Canada" maple leaf in white gold with red enamel paint is surrounded by diamonds on the tableau. Pairs of diamonds are set on both the left and right side of the bezel between "World Cup" and "Champions" in raised white gold letters. A total of 40 diamonds are set around the bottom of the bezel, 10 on each of the four sides. The right shank has two diamonds set in a World Cup logo with red and black enamel paint, with "20" and "04" in each corner at the top, and "Carry on the Tradition" on a banner across the bottom in raised white gold. The left shank features "Gagne", a Hockey Canada logo with red and black enamel paint, and Simon's number "21", also in raised white gold. "Intergold" and "10K" are stamped inside the size 9 band of this ring, which exhibits numerous nicks, scratches and dings all over its white gold surface. While these marks are clearly visible at close look under magnification, most are not readily apparent when looked at casually with the naked eye. A rare find, this is a superb Team Canada championship ring.
