Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
The spectacular story of the "Miracle on Ice" at Lake Placid in 1980 focuses on the achievement of the defeat of the heavily-favored Russian powerhouse at the hands of the underdog Team USA squad. Few remember that Canada also took part in the Olympic Games that year. Offered is the Team Canada team ring given to the players who participated wearing their nation's uniform in the hockey tournament at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics. Engraved on inner band is 'Jostens 10K' and 'Lake Placid 1980', both shanks are sculpted with the Hockey Canada logo and surname and number of player Kevin Maxwell. The ring is smaller in size and crafted in solid gold with a red stone and "National Team" at the top. Size 7, in excellent condition with some light scuffing to the band from wearing. Comes with a letter of authenticity. Rare and certainly desirable to fans and collectors of Team Canada and international hockey awards.
