Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011

Bryan Trottier has signed in black marker on the white matte of this framed display commemorating the Pittsburgh Penguins back-to-back Stanley Cup wins in 1991 and 1992. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997, Bryan had already led the New York Islanders’ dynasty to four consecutive Stanley Cups in the early 1980s when he added two more championships in the Steel City with Mario Lemieux’s Penguins at the outset of the following decade. The handwritten notation “1990-91 vs Minnesota” appears below an 8” x 4” photo of Trottier skating with the Cup hoisted above his head. “1991-92 vs Chicago” is handwritten below an 8” x 6 1/2" team photo of the Penguins gathered around the Cup with Brian sprawled on the ice in front of Lemieux. Bryan has placed a black marker signature with his #19 above the notation “Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup Champions” along the bottom. The photos are displayed recessed within a white-yellow-and-black triple matte mounted in a 17 3/4” x 22 3/4" black frame.
