Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
Legendary goaltender and innovator Jacques Plante was in his third year of senior hockey when he appeared on this, his first hockey card. Pictured in the uniform of the Montreal Royals without the knitted tuque he often wore during games(!), Plante that season posted a 30-24-6 record. Card #92 in the 109-card set, always referred to as "Laval Dairy" with however a box/pack found indicating that cards were made by "Bedard & Donaldson Ltd.," this example has been slabbed VG-EX 4 by PSA. Similar to Parkhurst cards of the same year, and with a blank back, a Plante pre-rookie card is an absolute must for an important goalie card collection.
